24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
The apostles asked, "Then, who can be saved?". Jesus answered, "With God all things are possible."

The ancient Greek word for camel was kamelos. The ancient Greek word for rope was kamilos. Some people would rather like to substitute the word rope in this parable such as, "It is easier to thread a rope through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven."

The fishermen left their fishing businesses with others to follow Jesus. Matthew left his tax collecting booth. The wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, was giving some of her money to Jesus' ministry. Joseph of Arimathaea risked his position in the Sanhedrin to support Jesus. The tax collector Zacchaeus pledged to pay back four times the money he had fraudulently taken by collecting too much in taxes as an effort to please God.

Many were taking wealth by violence, false accusation, fraud, and breach of contract, etc. Love of illicit gain was not part of God's religion.
