A few sycomore fruits were ripe in mid-July. Ripe sycomore fruits are brownish-purple.

Zacchaeus, a Roman era tax collector during the times of Jesus, was reported to have climbed a sycomore tree in Jericho to try to see Jesus. Luke 19:4

Amos (OT) claimed that he was neither a prophet, nor a prophet's son, but that he was a shepherd and a tender of sycomore fig trees. Amos 7:14
